Fat actually is an important and in fact a crucial nutrient for a normal functioning of the human body. The danger however comes when fat accumulates to a dangerous level that results in overweight and obesity. Being overweight does not just affect the way you look, it can also seriously affect your normal life and your health. Excessive body fat is linked with different types of diseases affecting the body's major organ and tissue systems.
"A new study released by the U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in year 2004 said OBESITY may replace SMOKING as the number one cause of Preventable Death in the United State".
The common type of diseases linked to obesity are Heart Attack, Stroke, Cancers, Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, Hypertension, Osteoarthritis, Gall Stone, Rheumatism and Feelings of Inferiority and Depression.
CAUSES OF OVERWEIGHT
If someone is obese, that means the person is seriously overweight as a result of having too much body fat. If you eat more calories than you burn it during normal daily activity, the extra or unburned calories are stored as fat. A combination of over eating and lack of exercise normally can cause overweight and obesity.
Overweight and obesity may be caused by the following factors:
* Genetic Factor. There's relation between the obesity in parents and their children. Oftentimes, the children born to obese parents also become obese.
* Unhealthy Diet. High calorie intake and low energy consumption will result in obesity. People who take excessive fatty food will have a high tendency of putting on weight.
* Health Problem. Abnormal weight gain can be caused by hormonal imbalance or illness such as endocrine, hypothalamus dysfunction, etc.
* Social, Environmental, and Psychological Factors. Eating culture or tradition, highly stress environment and depression can also cause abnormal eating habits which will also result in body weight problem.
* Lack of Exercise. People who work in office have greater chance of becoming obesity, despite more working hours, because less energy is exerted.
THE SAFE AND HEALTHY WAY FOR WEIGHT LOSS
When you're trying to loose weight, one factor you must keep in your mind, for every 3500 calories you eat over than your body needs, your body will store one pound of body fat. Otherwise, for every 3500 calories burn off from your body that stored as fat, you will lose one pound of your body fat by reduce food intake or do more exercise. Without a little patience and knowledge about nutrition and exercise, your best weight loss plan may crumble.
The safe and healthy weight loss plan should have this basic elements:
* Commitment to life-time alteration in eating habit and physical activity.
* Suppress appetite and reduce calories intake in save and reasonable amount.
* Provide balanced diet to the body.
* Gradually reduce weight loss and not quick weight loss.
For good results, you have to start with restricting your calories intake for effective weight control and the followings are some diet tips and a calories intake guide:
* Drink plenty of water - 8 glasses or more.
* Eat only baked or steamed food.
* Increase intake of high-fibre food such as fruit and vegetable to enhance the body detoxifying functions.
* Avoid food with high salt and sugar content and junk food.
* Eat less meat.
* Reduce calories intake by eat food free from fat.
* Do not skip breakfast, as this may slow down your metabolism or you may end up eating more later.
* Eat slowly, so you can get pleasure from every mouthful of your food.
* Avoid from eat supper.
As with any diet plan, you'll have to exercise in order to lose weight. Healthy lifestyle changes, such as quitting smoking, are also very important. The key is to find something that works for you and your weight loss goals and that is healthy for your body.
The goal of any weight control program should be on long term effect and no risk to your health. 3 Non-Dieting Strategies to Help You Give Up the Weight Loss Struggle
| Published in Diet Technique, Slimming Way, Weight Lose Rules, Weight Loss |
If you find yourself in a constant weight loss struggle there are things you can do starting today to end this fight. Those who struggle with their weight think and act differently than those who successfully manage their weight and you can learn this new way of thinking and acting. This article will show you how to end your weight loss struggle.
Do you ever wonder how some people seem to manage their weight easily while others (possibly yourself) seem doomed to fight their weight for the rest of their lives? Is the difference in their IQ, better genes or just plain luck? Nope...The difference is in the way they think.
We are so caught up in how much food to eat, what type of foods to eat and when to eat that we forget to think. Now I am not saying that your eating habits aren't important but I am saying that if you feel like you are living under this constant cloud called DIET then you need to rise above it and get a fresh perspective.
Here are three of my client's favorite ways to stop struggling with dieting and start seeing steady results on the scale.
1. Eat mindfully. It is so easy in this hectic world we live in to eat too much without even being conscious we are doing so. This causes us to eat too many calories and sets us up for a constant battle. The remedy is to learn to eat mindfully. There are different ways to go about this but one I would like to share with you is to eat with all five of your senses.
Do an experiment, the next food item you eat, eat it with all 5 of your senses. So I want you to look at the food, then notice any aroma it has, when you bite into it notice if it makes any noise, note it's texture inside your mouth and lastly note the taste. This simple exercise makes you aware of what and how much you are eating.
2. Uncover your true motivation. So often we lose touch of why we originally wanted to lose weight, then when we are hit with stress we see no good reason to stick with our diet. By taking about 15 minutes you can create a list of reasons you want to lose weight, keep writing reasons down until the 15 minutes are up. By doing this you will likely uncover some very heart-felt reasons you want to change and these reasons will become your motivation.
3. Stop negative thoughts before they have time to grow. This is key. It is important for you to know that everyone has thoughts of quitting when they are on a diet, it is what you do with these thoughts that determines your outcome. When you hear those inevitable thoughts telling you to quit, say CANCEL and switch your thought to a positive. If you don't do this you will continue to let the thought grow inside of you until its temptation is too great and you give in to it.
Losing weight is a challenge but you can rise above the weight loss struggle when you learn to eat mindfully, find your true motivation and control your negative thoughts.
I would like to help you end your weight loss struggle.

Choosing the Right Weight Loss Foods
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 | Published in Lose Fat, Slimming Way, Weight Lose Rules, Weight Loss |
If you have ever tried to diet or loose weight before, you are well aware of the fact that weight loss foods are seemingly hard to come by and even when you do find something that is of some nutritional value, or weight loss importance it tastes horrible! Luckily for those who have a hard time staying away from sweets or whatever else seems to be calling your name at every hour of the day, their is hope for weight loss yet!
The science behind weight loss is very simple. You must burn off more calories than you take in. This makes sense and should be the basis of any weight loss philosophy. Those who realize this mantra will also realize that you do not have to starve yourself, nor do you have to eat a salad a meal every day. The solution however is simple, although at first it may be hard to cope with.
You should start out by eating the same that you have always eaten, the only difference is to eat half of each portion. So for instance, if you generally drink two cups of coffee in the morning, drink one. If you generally eat two pieces of bread with dinner, eat one. You see the trend here? Now you need not be a math teacher to understand the fact that if you eat half as much you will loose some weight, it is pretty cut and dry. Once you have been working with that process for some time, you should also consider performing some form of cardio several days per week, this will enhance the benefits of loosing weight.
If you feel that you are beginning to plateau your gains by eating half as much as everything, you should then look at your daily intake. Try to cut down on the number of carbohydrates and fats that you are consuming, and start to consume more and more protein into your every day diet. Solid forms of protein include chicken, fish, and nuts. Also you should be consuming a good amount of water as well as a good amount of fruits and vegetables.
Weight loss foods specifically such weight loss food as things like vegetables and fruit may not be the greatest tasting, although they serve the purpose. You may not realize it while you are eating it, but once the weight is gone you will never look back.
